Gentle Sunrise (1X1C3540)

A gentle sunrise between rocks at Castle Rock Bay, Dunsborough, South West, Western Australia.

Ignoring the heavily photographed hero of the beach, Castle Rock, I wanted to capture the feeling of the quiet solitude of the beach at sunrise. I didn’t want a saturated bright sunrise, but one that was gentle in nature as the sun moved up and over the eastern horizon. A long exposure was chosen to flatten the water and help add to the mellow early morning atmosphere.

Titled “Gentle Sunrise” to reflect the intention of the image.

Castle Rock Beach is a popular swimming and fishing beach near Dunsborough in Western Australia’s beautiful South West. It’s also a very heavily photographed place perhaps due to its proximity to Dunsborough. The beach gets its name from the rock structure at the eastern end, which resembles a castle with a little imagination.
