Minimalistic sunrise at Castle Rock Bay, Dunsborough, South West, Western Australia.
A lot of the images landscape photographers normally capture are full of detail, with many elements within the scene. On this occasion I wanted to portray a simpler, more peaceful viewpoint of Castle Rock Beach on a beautiful early morning day.
A similar style of image to “Cold Feet , “High Key” and “Pastel Dreaming” which all are simplistic in nature and composed to provide a calm feeling when viewing. High Key is actually an image from the same viewpoint on the same morning, but slightly lighter due to the closer angle to the morning sunrise and positioning of the rocks to the left of the frame.
A long exposure was used to flatten and mist the water, whilst exposing the frame correctly in the dim light at the time. All combined to provide a calm and peaceful expression.
Titled “Minimalist” to reflect the very simple composition with minimal structure.
Castle Rock Beach is a popular swimming and fishing beach near Dunsborough in Western Australia’s beautiful South West. It’s also a very heavily photographed place perhaps due to its proximity to Dunsborough. The beach gets its name from the rock structure at the eastern end, which resembles a castle with a little imagination.
