New Day (1X1C2519)
A new day beings at Eagle Bay, Dunsborough, South West, Western Australia.
This is a single frame from the panoramic image “First Light” taken before sunrise in the vicinity of Eagle Bay, near Dunsborough in the South West of Western Australia.
A long exposure being required to light up the scene, since it was almost dark at the time. It’s quite impressive when the ambient light can be boosted by leaving the shutter open for a while, revealing the daytime colour.
The composition of this image is more simplistic, being focused only on the orange rock outcrops and textured shallows hiding some of the submerged rocks. A solid consistently toned blue sky, still unaffected by the soon to rise sun lurking below the horizon. The intent was to capture the moment when you have a whole scene in front of you, yet you just zero in a small section, almost looking beyond it, whilst you contemplate or day dream about what the new day may hold.
Titled “New Day” to reflect the start of the day, just prior to sunrise.
The South West corner of Western Australia has many magical spots, with Eagle Bay, not far from Dunsborough a standout. Which is why I guess in the wooded hinterland behind it lies some of Western Australia’s most expensive holiday houses. The coastline is normally calm with clear water and white sandy beaches, separated by orange coloured rocky outcrops and points. Protected by Cape Naturaliste from the relentless large ocean swells, it is in stark contrast to the other side of the cape, world famous for its large and powerful surf breaks.
